New York City’s famed Greenwich dance studio has become a pop-up restaurant and bar, offering free performances on Thursdays and Fridays and offering free drinks on Saturdays.
The studio is known for its colorful, dance-infused décor, which includes the famous green and yellow curtains, and an impressive set of floor mats that doubles as tables.
The new restaurant is the brainchild of London-based restaurateur James Ruhlman, who has created two restaurants in London’s trendy Kings Cross neighborhood: the Green Room and the East Village Kitchen.
Ruhllman’s first restaurant, The East Village, opened in 2006, and the second, The Green Room, opened two years later.
Ruhlmans latest restaurant, Greenwich, is set to open at the end of June.
The East Street location will be Ruhs new flagship restaurant.
The East Village’s signature menu includes sandwiches, salads, soups, sandwiches, entrees and desserts.
Rohlman said he wanted to create a place that would “open people’s eyes to the richness and diversity of the culture and its food.”
Greenwich is open from 7:30 p.m. to midnight on Thursnesdays and Saturdays.
Rihlmans menu will include a wide variety of desserts, including chocolate cake, lemon cake, strawberry cake and raspberry cake, as well as a selection of sandwiches, including croissants, hash browns, hot dogs, sandwiches and salads.
“It’s a really fun place to visit,” said Ruhnman, whose Greenwich has been dubbed “the Green Room of London.”
“It’s the perfect place for people to learn about the culture of London, and have a great experience.”
Ruhnmans Greenwich restaurant is scheduled to open in late May.
The Greenwich restaurant, which has been a staple of London’s music scene for years, is being designed by London-area architectural firm Narrow and Wide Architecture, with a glass floor plan, open spaces, an open kitchen and outdoor patio.
Rudy Wielgus, one of Greenwich’s owners, said the Greenwich location will feature a “lounge bar” on the second floor.
Wielguses Greenwich restaurant will feature an indoor, bar-like seating area with a patio, and he said it will offer a wide selection of food.
The kitchen, which was initially designed by the British designer Andrew Green, will include stainless steel appliances, a coffee maker and oven, and a “sushi bar.”
Wielgs Greenwich restaurant was designed by architect John Cottrell.
Ridley said he hoped the Greenwich restaurant and the new restaurant, the Eastvillage Kitchen, would be a good way for people “to experience the diversity of London and the people who make it so special.”
“We want to give people a chance to get a taste of London,” Ridley said.
“I hope it’s a bit like having a visit from London to New York.”
